Robust Similarity Measures for Stereo Correspondence
نویسنده
چکیده
Normalized cross correlation (NCC), Sum of squared differences (SSD), and Sum of absolute differences (SAD) are the linear correlation measures generally used for stereo correspondence. These measures fail to establish the correspondence under nonideal conditions such as specular reflection, occlusion etc. In this paper, the similarity measures for stereo correspondence based on rank correlation techniques are considered. The performance of various rank correlation techniques for stereo matching is compared in terms of discriminatory power, sensitiveness and minimum false matches. Experiments conducted on real stereo images suggest the superiority of Kendalls rank correlation over the other measures under non-ideal conditions.

Efficient Stereo and Optical Flow with Robust Similarity Measures
In this paper we address the problem of dense stereo matching and computation of optical flow. We propose a generalized dense correspondence computation algorithm, so that stereo matching and optical flow can be performed robustly and efficiently at the same time. We particularly target automotive applications and tested our method on real sequences from cameras mounted on vehicles. We performe...
متن کاملEvaluation of Similarity Measures for Template Matching
Image matching is a critical process in various photogrammetry, computer vision and remote sensing applications such as image registration, 3D model reconstruction, change detection, image fusion, pattern recognition, autonomous navigation, and digital elevation model (DEM) generation and orientation. The primary goal of the image matching process is to establish the correspondence between two ...
متن کاملDense Stereo Correspondence Using Combined Similarity Measurement
This paper presents a new real-time stereo correspondence method based on combined similarity measurement and guided filter. Many stereo correspondence methods use color intensity value as pixel similarity measurement, color intensity value is sensitive to noise, exposure, light and etc, so error correspondence rates of these methods are high. Gradient value is more robust to these factors than...
متن کاملStereo Matching for Unconstrained Face Recognition - Ph.D. Proposal
Unconstrained face recognition is a problem of fundamental importance in computer vision. We propose to address this problem by using stereo matching to judge the similarity of two, 2D images of faces. Stereo matching allows for arbitrary, physically valid, continuous correspondences. We show that the stereo matching cost provides a very robust measure of similarity of faces that is insensitive...
متن کاملCorrespondence with Cumulative Similiarity Transforms
ÐA local image transform based on cumulative similarity measures is defined and is shown to enable efficient correspondence and tracking near occluding boundaries. Unlike traditional methods, this transform allows correspondences to be found when the only contrast present is the occluding boundary itself and when the sign of contrast along the boundary is possibly reversed. The transform is bas...
